Kumasi, Jan. 2, GNA - Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, Asantehene, has lauded the Presbyterian Church of Ghana (PCG), for its �Mission to the Palace Project� which aimed at deepening relationship between the Church and traditional rulers.
He said, the Manhyia Palace would give all the necessary support to help achieve the objectives of the project, pointing out that the church and traditional authorities had a common goal of improving the wellbeing of humanity.
Otumfuo Osei Tutu was addressing members and leaders of the PCG at a thanksgiving service held at the forecourt of the Palace in Kumasi.
The programme was held under the auspices of the Palace and General Assembly of the PCG.
The King was grateful to God for His divine guidance which had enabled him to endure the challenges and difficulties associated with the Asantehene�s Office.
�In the past 12 years of my enstoolment, I have been courageous in speaking the truth. I have taken bold decisions, though it hurts some people sometimes and I know God would continue to strengthen me for the years ahead,� he said.
Otumfuo Osei Tutu said he would not compromise on the truth, particularly in cases brought before him for adjudication as that was the only way justice could be ensured.
He promised to interact with the Church on regular basis for their mutual benefit.
The Reverend Dr Kwabena Opuni-Frimpong, Chairperson of the Asante Presbytery of the Church, said the Project was aimed at demystifying the negative perception held by most Christians about the traditions and customs associated with traditional rule.
He was optimistic that with the support of the Palace, the noble objectives of the Project would be sustained.
Very Reverend Yaw Frimpong-Manso, Immediate-Past Moderator of the PCG, led the Congregation to pray for the Asantehene and all traditional rulers as well as government and people of Ghana.
