Farmer Overpowers Pythons

A farmer at Shama Junction in the early hours of Tuesday overpowered two huge pythons which had attacked him on his farm in succession, killing them in the process. The farmer, Mr Emmanuel Gogbeloh, had gone to the farm to uproot some cassava for the afternoons fufu when the incident occurred. The two reptiles measured about 18 feet each. Narrating the incident to the Daily Graphic, Mr Gogbeloh said he was in the process of uprooting the cassava when he saw the first reptile advancing menacingly towards him. Sensing danger, he said, he quickly dashed for his single-barrelled gun, which was already loaded, and shot at the reptile, which was still threateningly heading in his direction. Mr Gogbeloh said just after killing the first reptile, another one emerged from nowhere and he had no option but to shoot at it for his safety. News about the incident was received with jubilation by some local young men, who claimed the meat of the reptiles was a delicacy. When the Daily Graphic visited the farm, the young men were already there and they had gathered the reptiles in a big tray to be carried to town for preparation.
