Woyome Threatens To Sue Joe Ghartey

The lawyers for beleaguered NDC financier, Alfred Woyome, have said they are considering adding former Attorney General Joe Ghartey to the defendants in the suit they have filed in court. This follows Mr. Gharteys recent request for proof of contract between Woyome and the Government of Ghana which allegedly won him the controversial judgment debt of some GhC58 million. Mr. Ghartey, under whose tenure the alleged contract was supposedly flouted, said in a Citi News interview on Tuesday that the dust hovering over the judgment debt will settle for good if Mr. Woyome produced the contract document he claims he signed with government. However, Mr. Woyomes counsel, David Anan, told Citi News that the former Attorney General should come to court to get his questions answered rather than resort to the media. We have said clearly in our statement of claim that there is a contract, he said. Furthermore, Mr. Ghartey was the Attorney General during the period of 2007/8 and was directly responsible for legal advice to the government and we will consider adding him as the fourth defendant to explain or tell us whether or not there is a contract, Mr. Annan stated.
