CPP Women Threaten Mass Defection To Nduoms Party

The womens organiser of the Convention Peoples Party (CPP), Mary Ankomah, has said a greater number of the women in the party will defect to their former flagbearer, Dr. Paa Kwesi Nduoms newly formed Progressive Peoples Party (PPP). Dr. Nduom is currently putting in place structures across the country to launch his new party in February. He intends contesting the December elections on the ticket of the PPP. While describing Dr Nduoms resignation from the CPP as a big blow, the leader of the partys womens wing told Citi News some of her female colleagues are contemplating crossing carpet. I was in the Western region the day after; I toured most of the constituencies there and I must say that it is a disaster. It is not easy; people are thinking that the negative effect of Dr. Nduom leaving the party will be great. Most of the women in the constituencies I visited are thinking of joining the progressive movement, Ankomah disclosed. The CPP womens leader also threatened parting ways with the party if the chairperson Samia Nkrumah fails to review her leadership style. What Samia is doing is wrong; she is not going according to the constitution and that is exactly what we are going against. If it continues like this then Ill have to advice myself. If the chairperson is prepared to work with us, particularly me, then I have no reason to leave CPP, She stated.
