The New Patriotic Party (NPP) on Thursday rubbished President John Evans Atta Mills� recent media encounter at the Castle and described it as a �waste of state resources. � The party�s communications director, Nana Akomea, at a news conference reacted to some of President Mills� comments which centered on the STX deal, the fuel price hikes, depreciation of the cedi, the Volta and Brong Ahafo universities and the Alfred Woyome saga. Nana Akomea described President Mills� 2011 mantra of �Action Year� as a �Wahala Year� and therefore challenged him to use the remaining one year to improve the living conditions of Ghanaians and stop being rhetorical in his comments on issues of national concern. He noted that even with the oil economy, the NDC government has failed to deliver on its promise to better the living conditions of Ghanaians. On the controversial Alfred Woyome judgment debt payment saga, Nana Akomea, claimed the money paid to the NDC financier was GHc92 million and not Ghc58 million being reported. He said that decision was a terrible reflection on the state of governance in Ghana. �The NDC bankroller, Mr. Alfred Woyome�s judgment debt payment is possibly the biggest financial scandal Ghana has ever witnessed in her political history,� he observed. According to the NPP communications director, President Mills should have instructed the Economic and Organized Crime Office to conduct its preliminary investigations before making the payment. Nana Akomea also urged President Mills to discipline his appointees before calling for ceasefire on the politics of insults and character assassination. He decried the manner in which some ministers of state have lashed �gratuitous insults� on NPP members including their flagbearer on the blind side of President Mills� eyes.
