BNI Snubs Court Order

The Bureau of National Investigations (BNI) is still keeping the head of the Commercial Crimes Unit of the Police CID, DSP Gifty Mawuenyega Tehoda, barely 24 hours after an Accra Human Rights Court ordered her release on bail. DSP Tehoda, who has been in the BNI custody since December 29, 2011, has been implicated for the alleged role she played in the swapping of a cocaine exhibit at the Police Headquarters. The Human Rights Court released the female police officer on bail in the sum of Ghc 50,000 with two sureties on Thursday. However, credible information available to Citi News indicates that the indicted police officer spent another night in the cells of the national intelligence outfit because a schedule officer who was supposed to sign her discharge papers was indisposed at the seat of government, the Osu Castle, the whole of Thursday. More details soon.
