Osafo Maafos Trial At EOCO Wouldnt Be Fair Fmr Dep. A-G

A former Deputy Attorney General of the Kufuor administration, Madam Gloria Akuffo, has said she believes Mr. Osafo Maafo, an ex-minister, may not have a fair hearing before the Economic and Organized Crime Office (EOCO). According to her, the appropriate body mandated by the constitution to conduct fair investigation into the infamous GhC58 million Woyome judgment debt scandal is the Public Accounts Committee of Parliament. The EOCO boss, Kwaku Mortey, has however given indications that his outfit is mandated by law to carry out investigations into the issue. Mr. Maafo, who has been invited to appear before the state investigative body, has declined arguing that an executive arm of government cannot investigate the issue. Speaking to Citi News, Madam Akuffo said the Public Accounts Committee of Parliament is the body which can deal with the matter impartially.
