Christmas Was Bitter Isaac Osei

The 2011 Christmas season will go down in Ghanas history as one of the most poorly celebrated, according to the Member of Parliament (MP) for Subin, Isaac Osei. Mr. Osei has observed that unlike previous Christmas seasons, there was no joy and merry making in most homes across the country due to excessive hardship. According to the MP, the current widespread economic hardship has reached a peak due to the bad policies of the NDC government and that this contributed to making the yuletide unexciting. He made these remarks in an interview with a section of the media after commissioning the new modern office of the Yam Sellers Association at the Kumasi Central Market. Mr. Osei said parents and guardians could neither buy new clothes and shoes nor cook special meals for their children this Christmas because there is no money in the system. The Subin MP therefore implored the populace to vote the NDC out of office this year to ensure that the NPP which has a track record of properly developing the country takes over. The office of the association was in deplorable state but Mr. Osei decided to renovate the facility at the cost of GH5,800 through his share of the Assemblys Common fund. As part of the renovation work, the entire building was re-roofed, re-painted, the frames changed and entire floor titled. Commenting on the NDC government, Mr. Osei said it had failed miserably with regards to fulfilling its Better Ghana Agenda, saying people are now living in a Bitter Ghana. He urged the Mills administration to at least introduce a single programme to improve the lives of the people before it is replaced by the NPP in 2013. The MP also slammed government for deciding to use the Ashanti region which is the most populous region in the country to conduct the pilot programme for the capitation system of the NHIA. He said normally to verify the effectiveness of such a project; the pilot programme should have been conducted in much less populated areas first.
