The minority leader of Parliament, Hon. Osei Kyei Mensah-Bonsu has stated that the �explosive statement� by the Attorney General and Minister for Justice is a clear indication that the Mills led NDC government is in a state of serious confusion.
He said the �loaded statement which is pregnant with a lot of connotations is baffling and frightening� adding that President Mills must direct an investigation into the gargantuan allegations made Mr Martin Amidu.
Mr Martin Amidu in a press release on Wednesday described sections of the pro-government press as �a partisan and rented NDC press group who perceive that I am not performing the duties of my office in their partisan political interests. �
He said a colleague Minister of State, who perceived that his integrity and professionalism as a lawyer was a threat to the concealment of gargantuan crimes against the people of Ghana connived to unleash the gullible section of the NDC press on him [Mr Amidu] by the leakage of official documents from his ministry through the perverse section of a rented NDC press to the public beginning the 3rd of January 2012.
The statement by the Attorney General has been condemned by NDC loyalists with some calling for his dismissal for failing to use internal party structures to address his grievances.
Speaking to Citi News in an interview, the Minority Leader who doubles as the Member of Parliament for Suame stated that the allegations by the Attorney General must be investigated and the perpetrators brought to book.
He added that calls for resignation or dismissal are premature saying the core issues raised by the attorney general should be critically assessed and not overlooked.
�Why won�t anybody begin by going into the issues that he has raised, threats on his life? I think it should begin from there. Is it true that people are threatening his life? � he asked.
He added that �we should also investigate the conduct of what he calls the rented partisan NDC press who are not cool heads. We should investigate their roles.
"What they are doing is illegal for society. Are they doing anything for Ghana as a nation or they want to tear us apart, this is something that Ghanaians must be interested in�.
