Nana Konadu Denies Knowledge Of New Campaign Posters

The office of Nana Konadu Agyemang Rawlings has denied knowledge of some new posters in town to champion the presidential ambition of the former first lady for this years December elections. Reports about the purported presidential ambition of Nana Konadu gained grounds on Monday following the discovery of some conspicuous posters bearing her portrait. Some of the posters have been cited in the Ashanti region and various parts of the country with the impression that she intends contesting the 2012 elections as an independent presidential candidate. The issue is spreading like wild fire and is taking the same dimension just like when her decision to contest President John Mills during the Sunyani congress started like a rumour. An aide to the former first lady, Sidii Abubakar Musah told Citi News that his boss has no knowledge of the posters in circulation. He said the former first lady was in South Africa with the husband during the African National Congress centenary celebration and could not have been part of that development. He revealed that the former first lady was amazed when she heard about the posters. He, however, indicated that if the reports were anything to go by it meant that Nana Konadu was popular among the grassroots of the ruling NDC. As to whether the former first lady and her husband will join the NDC campaign trail, Sidii said that will depend on President Mills move to cleanse the party as directed by ex-President Jerry John Rawlings during last years 31st December Revolution Anniversary.
