Seven functional, regional and constituency executives of the Democratic Freedom Party (DFP) on Tuesday joined Dr. Paa Kwesi Nduom�s newly formed Progressive People�s Party (PPP). They are from the Northern, Ashanti, Brong Ahafo, Upper West, Eastern, Volta and the Greater Accra regions. They declared their unflinching support for Dr. Nduom�s PPP to build it as a credible alternative to the NDC and the NPP during the December polls. Sarfo Adams, the spokesperson for the defectors, who earlier formed a group known as the Campaign for Effective Leadership told Citi News the DFP�s life patron, Dr. Yao Obed Asamoah, betrayed the party members by merging the DFP with the ruling NDC. �We want to state categorically that there was no consensus before the so called merger with the ruling National Democratic Congress by the life patron and a few greedy party executives,� Adams said. �In the light of this, we the functional, regional and constituency executives of the Democratic Freedom Party comprising seven regions including the Ashanti, Brong Ahafo, Upper West, North, Eastern, Volta and the Greater Accra [are joining] the PPP. � Adams said it was against that backdrop that members of the Campaign for Effective Leadership declared their unflinching support for the PPP.
