Driver Who Killed 27 Denied Bail

The driver of the water tanker that killed 27 people and injured 32 others at Senya Breku in the Central region has been refused bail at the Agona Swedru Circuit court on Tuesday. The accident occurred on Tuesday, December 27 last year when the driver of the 2000-litre water tanker, Adu Fenyi, lost control and drove into residents gathered for Christmas celebrations in Senya Breku. The owner of the vehicle and the drinking spot where the incident occurred were, however, given bail of GhC16,000 and GhC17,000 respectively with two sureties. The Winneba MTTU Commander John Paul Akonde told Citi News they are to reappear in court on the 27th of January. He said today we withdrew the case to the circuit court. What happened is that we charged the care taker of the car and we also charged the one who organised the street jam. When it went to court, the two of them were granted bail and the other one has been remanded to appear next week. The Driver has also been remanded.
