Cocaine/Baking Soda Saga: Police Service Interdicts DSP Tehoda

Peacefmonline.com can confirm that the Ghana Police Administration has interdicted top female police officer DSP Gifty Mawuenyega Tehoda after she was charged with abetment of crime and stealing of cocaine by an Accra Circuit Court. DSP Tehoda was arraigned before court on Tuesday and subsequently remanded in prison custody by the court after the Bureau of National Investigations (BNI) cited her in their interim report on the cocaine-turned-baking soda saga. A statement from the Public Affairs Directorate of the Police Service and signed by its acting director, DSP Cephas Arthur, said DSP Tehodas interdiction was in line with the Police Administrations regulations. The statement gave the assurance that the police will cooperate with the relevant institutions and bodies to get to the bottom of the case. DSP Tehoda, who is the second-in-command of the Commercial Crimes Unit at the Police CID Headquarters, was in BNI custody from December 29, 2011 till last Friday when she was released on bail. But that freedom was short-lived after the national intelligence outfit re-arrested her hours later. She was being held for the alleged role she played in the infamous cocaine barter that made headlines late last year resulting in two separate investigations the Chief Justice Committee of Inquiry and the BNIs.
