Stars Arrive In Libreville On Jan. 20

Ghana�s Black Stars are scheduled to arrive in Libreville, Gabon for the 2012 Africa Cup of Nations on the eve of the opening match of the tournament. The highly favoured Stars are scheduled to touch down at the Leon M�ba International Airport on January 20 at 18h40 local time aboard a South African airways flight. The team will then be airlifted to Franceville via a charted flight to their Residence Hoteliere Ngouni base. However, Kwesi Nyantakyi, President of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) won�t be around to welcome the team at the airport as an Executive Committee meeting of the Confederation of African Football (CAF) is expected to take place concurrently in Malabo, Equatorial Guinea. The GFA boss will team up with the team after the tournament opener on January 21 between co-hosts Equatorial Guinea and Gabon scheduled for the Estadio de Bata in Bata, the economical capital of the co-hosts. Meanwhile, Mali will be the first team in Group D to arrive as they are expected an-hour earlier than the Stars. Guinea are also expected later the same with Botswana due to fly in 24-hours later from their camping base in the northern Cameroonian city of Douala. The Stars will begin their campaign on January 24 against debutants Botswana at the Franceville Stadium. GNA
