Otumfuo Meets Tullow Officials

THE ASANTEHENE, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, Life Patron of the Royal Golf Club in Kumasi, has held fruitful talks with leading officials of Tullow Oil regarding the growth of golf in the country. The King granted audience to his proud visitors at the premises of the Royal Golf Club in Kumasi, captain of the club, Kwesi Appiah told DAILY GUIDE SPORTS. The Tullow Oil officials included Executive Chairman, Ike Duker, Vice Captain, Ryder Cup and other leading officials of the giant oil company operating in the country. The Asante Monarch and Tullow Oil officials held lengthy talks concerning what the latter could do in earnest to help promote golf as sport especially from the grassroots. Kwesi Appiah, who was present at the meeting, said Tullow Oil was targeting massive development of golf among the youth so as to help sustain the future of the sport in the country. As part of their vision, he noted that Tullow Oil wanted to support junior�s golf programme at the Royal Golf Club, adding that the oil company also had plans of equipping the club with equipment. Kwesi Appiah hinted that Tullow Oil had promised to present a driving range among other vital facilities that would help promote golf to the club very soon. The Tullow Oil delegation who visited the club late last year are expected at the Royal Golf Club in Kumasi for some feasibility studies on the golf course late January 2012.
