Mass Defection Hit NDC Goaso Zongo

Over sixty members of the youth wing of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) and their executives at Goaso Zongo have defected to the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP). The leader of the group, Sulemana Yakubu, who addressed the press, noted that the NDC used them during 2008 elections and subsequently abandoned them. According to him, the downward trend in inflation, interest rate and the growth in GDP have not reflected in the prices of goods on market or in their pockets. He stated that parents, whose wards gained admission to the SHS, were forced to pay exorbitant school fees during the later part of the term, stressing that they are being made to pay fees in January. What will a businessman say about his manager at the end of the year when he finds out that the accounts department has paid almost half of the companys capital to an individual without the managers approval. Do we consider such person as a good manager or poor manager? We strongly believe that these are vivid proof of the poor governance on the part of the NDC that has compelled us to defect and join forces with the New Patriotic Party (NPP) that has at least given us a yardstick of governance to compare with what is happening now with NDC, he lamented. The group calling itself New Elephant Pressure Group condemned the intolerable conduct of the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Asunafo North, Mohammed Kwaku Doku. They accused the MCE of awarding the Goaso roads contract to himself by using his wifes name which they consider as conflict of interest. They also accused him of using his daughter to represent Asunafo North outside the country. They challenged the MCE to come out and tell them about a single room he has built for the midwifery school at Goaso and explain why he refused to complete the Goaso abattoir. The youth promised to campaign massively for the NPP in the upcoming elections and promised not to go back to the NDC. The Asunafo North Constituency Chairman of the NPP, Boakye Yiadom, who received the members, expressed his excitement and promised to work with them to bring the NPP back to power to save the people from the hardship they are facing. He advised them to inform people of the vision of the Nana Akufo-Addo in providing free education and creating jobs for the youth.
