The Government of Ghana has advanced in negotiations with some two construction firms to take over portions of the STX deal which would require them to build houses for the country�s security services. The security services were expected under the comatose STX deal to benefit from over 30,000 housing units to cater for all ranks within the various security services. However, speaking to the Armed Forces at their annual West African Soldiers Social Activity (WASSA), Vice President John Dramani Mahama, indicated that government is exploring a public private partnership agreement to deal with the housing shortage within the security services. The Vice President said, �While we are facing challenges with the STX project, government has put in place a back up program or a plan B as you�d call it in military parlance. � �50 million of the outstanding balance of the PTI project has been committed to providing accommodation for various ranks of the armed forces. �I also wish to add that government is currently talking with two construction companies, and going to enter a public private partnership arrangement with them to provide housing and accommodation for the security services for both the Military and the Police,� he announced.
