First Rain Lifts Months Of Heat And Dust off Ho

The Ho Municipality experienced its first rains this morning toning down months of sweltering heat and dust-laden conditions to the relief of residents. By 07.00 hours, the sky over the municipality was overcast with thick dark clouds, followed by a spell of strong winds, puncturing the balloon of precipitation and causing the clouds to burst into the long-longed-for rain. However, by 08.00 hours the rain let up leaving a carpet of dry ground typical of Ho to allow for outdoor activities. The 23.6 millimetres of rain as measured by the Municipal meteorological station, was nonetheless enough to clear some drains of months of debris and stench. The Municipal Office of the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO) had not received any adverse reports such as damage caused by strong winds to people's houses following the rain, Mr Mathais Murray, the Municipal Co-ordinator of NADMO told the Ghana News Agency when reached on phone. He said his zonal officers were out in town to assess the effects of the rain in the municipality.
