Carjackers Invade Accra

The Accra Police Command is warning the general public on the increase in carjacking cases in the metropolis. There have been increasing reports of salon car snatching particularly of Toyota and Nissan vehicles by armed robbers in some parts of Accra. According to the acting Public Relations Officer of the Accra Police Command, Corporal Bright Danso, the public must be vigilant on the highway to avoid being victims. �When you are travelling avoid using the same route all the time, these carjackers might have noticed you. so make sure you change routes from time to time,� he advised the general public through Citi News. Two months ago the executive director of policy think-tank, IMANI Ghana, Franklin Cudjoe, fell victim to carjacking. �I was going to park my car, when two armed robbers on a motorbike, one pointed a gun at me and asked me to move away from the car while the other one got into the car and within a brief moment they bolted with the car,� he narrated to Citi News at the time. The police also cautioned taxi drivers to be wary of �attractive fares� as would-be passengers are likely to steal their cars.
