Gambia To Host WAICA Conference

The West African Insurance Companies Association (WAICA) has announced the hosting of the 2012 Educational Conference and Annual General Meeting (AGM) in Banjul, Gambia, from April 15-17. Mr. William Coker, Secretary General, explained to B&FT that this year�s conference will dwell on the theme �Professional and Ethical Behaviour in the Insurance Industry�. About 300 delegates, insurance institutions, and observers from all over the world are expected to grace the Banjul Conference. It is also expected that during the AGM there will be a change of leadership as Mr. Fattai K. Lawal, the current president from Nigeria, will hand over to Mr. Dawda Sarge of The Gambia. Mr. Coker said two thought-provoking papers will be presented and discussed by dynamic stakeholders from the industry. The first paper will be �Professionalism in a Highly Competitive Environment and the Practice of Ethical Behaviour in the Development of the Insurance Industry - The Role of Management�. �Professional Insurance Underwriting and Marketing - A Must for the Growth and Sustenance of the Insurance Industry in West Africa� will come up on day-two.
