Man Throws Child From Storey Building

A 28-year old trader, Dauda Ayariga, has been remanded into prison custody, for allegedly throwing down a four-year-old child from a two-storey building at Bremang, a suburb of Kumasi. The incident, which occurred at around 4pm on Sunday, left the child badly injured and hospitalized at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital. His plea was not taken and the Circuit Court, presided over by Mr. William Boampong, remanded him until March 16. Rasta-haired Dauda, appeared in court yesterday, sporting a swollen blood-shot right eye, an injury he is suspected to have sustained at the hands of his captors, when he was arrested and sent to the police station. Police prosecutor, Inspector G. F. Tenkorang, told the court that both the accused and the victims parents lived in the two-storey building. He said last Sunday, March 4, Dauda picked the child to play with him. Not long after, he dropped him from the second floor to the ground. He told police interrogators after his arrest that he was playing with the child and that it was not his intention to harm him.
