Airtel Ghana, the fastest growing mobile telecommunication company in Ghana, on Wednesday held a media launch for the second season of its TV series, Touching Lives.
The programme, which is Airtel Ghana�s flagship corporate social responsibility initiative, will start airing on selected TV stations across the country from Sunday, March 11 and would run for 13 weeks.
Mr Philip Sowah, Managing Director of Airtel Ghana, said: �With Touching Lives, we create an opportunity for Ghanaians to nominate people they know who are going the extra mile to make a difference in �The lives of others, be it their families or communities.� He said a strong emphasis on the programme was offering support which was sustainable.
Mr Sowah said as part of its �Philanthropic endeavour and a passionate commitment� to contribute to the communities in which they operated, the company was producing the 13-part TV show which aimed to change the lives of people living in trying circumstances by offering them various support.
Ms Fafali Dzobo, Director of Human Resources and Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) of Airtel Ghana, said the hundreds of nominations received after the Call to entry in November were screened by a cross-functional team of researchers and investigative journalists with further assessment of the situations of the nominees in the field.
She said the Season Two of Touching Lives would include an update on some of the Season One stories focusing on �Life after the show�.
�The new stories in Touching Lives 2 for this season cover themes such as selflessness, women empowerment, love and family, among others. We know that through these stories, we will touch lives of viewers,� Ms Dzobo said.
The first episode that was screened for the media tells the story of Rebecca, who took over the care of her sister�s family, after she died �of frustration� Leaving behind six sons, five of whom are severely handicapped.
The sixth brother is on a tuition scholarship at the Catholic University at Sunyani. His grades are good and he believes he was born �normal� to help his brothers out.
