New Immigration Programme Introduced

A new immigration programme aimed at allowing investors in the U.S economy gain US citizens permit for their families has been unveiled in Accra. The programme, EB-5, facilitates investors acquisition of green paper to become citizens. It also enables a foreign national to obtain permanent residence status more expeditiously than with most other options. Pascal Nwakocha, an immigration lawyer specializing in EB-5 explaining at a seminar to deepen its educational campaign and officially unveil it in the country, encouraged every wealthy person who has the interest to invest in the U.S to seize this opportunity. The programme has been in existence since the1990s and it has been very successful over the years, with enormous beneficial permanent residence options for the wealthy individual. He revealed that the introduction of the initiative in the country is to expose the programme and its benefit to African nationals to help them take advantage of its operations. At Pascal Nwokocha Law Offices, our EB-5 practice team counsel foreign nationals on the advantages and disadvantages of individual and regional centre EB-5 petitions as compared with other immigration options, he said. He noted that even though 10,000 immigrants visas per year are available to foreign investors and their family members who meet certain criteria he believes in bringing this visa option within the reach of all, especially Africans. He explained that the E.B5 category requires an investment of $1million in a commercial enterprise that will create employment for at least 10 full-time U.S workers. Although the investors role is passive, he does not have to be involved in any way in the day-to-day management of the business unless he wants to do so. As a firm founded by immigrants to the United States, we are uniquely positioned to offer this service to other potential immigrants, he said. Nwokocha added: For investment in areas other than targeted employment areas , the minimum amount of investment is $1m. Investment in targeted employment areas, including approved regional centers, can qualify with a minimum of $500,000. Foreign investors need to secure permanent residency in the U.S as well as invest in the largest economy in the world, and that we have helped investors from Nigeria secure their investment and permanent residency status in the U.S for their families, Mr. Nwakocha remarked.
