Eight former workers of investment bank, Databank, have been employed at senior levels of the finance ministry since Ken Ofori-Atta was appointed as finance minister, minority leader Haruna Iddrisu has said.
According to him, the move is part of a grand effort by the Akufo-Addo-led government to cleanse the civil service.
“Even at the ministry of finance, as many as eight civil service positions have been filled by officers who hitherto were working with the minister of finance at Databank and have been put on the payroll of the Ghana revenue authority. We will not accept the undue politicization of the civil and public service of Ghana,” the Tamale South MP noted at a press conference organized by the NDC in Accra Thursday.
He also urged President Akufo-Addo to desist from interfering in the operations of the electoral commission.
“He should stay off and intruding into the operations and activities of the independent electoral commission of Ghana. While we have accommodated him sweeping off the civil and public service and replacing them with officials of the New Patriotic Party, we unable to accept and live with any attempt by him to erode public confidence in the independent electoral commission,” he said.

Any time I listen to Haruna Iddrisu my respect for him diminishes. Does one have to open their mouth and pour just any words out just because they are in opposition? I thought I didn't like NDC in power mostly because of the way they talked, but even in opposition I am beginning to hate them the more. They do not talk any sense at all.
In so what, you people koraaa maniwu asem koraaa
Is Haruna Iddrisu truly a lawyer? i can't believe that somebody who have gone through the legal profession can talk like an NDC illiterate foot soldier. He should go back and read the constitution of Ghana concerning impeachment of the EC chair before coming out to speak in such a disgraceful manner
