A coalition of Teacher Associations comprising GNAT, NAGRAT and CCT-GH has threatened to take actions against government for failing to meet their demands.
According to leadership of the Teacher Associations, the Ministry of Finance has deliberately refused to validate the payment of their salaries and arrears to deserving teachers.
In a combined statement issued and signed by the leadership, they expressed regrets over the inattention of the Finance Ministry and the government to their grievances.
"We refer to our letter dated 21st June, 2017 and subsequent meetings that followed on the subject matter above and regret that the concerns raised have been left unaddressed to date. At the said meeting, the stakeholders agreed in principle to commence the validation exercise on 11th September, 2017 for which notices were sent to our members across the country. In addition, we also agreed that the 65,013 forms were to be validated in eight-eight (88) days.
"We are therefore amazed that as we write and one month down the line, no action has been taken to commence the exercise and we see this as a deliberate ploy and betrayal of good faith in dealing with the matter", portions of the statement read.
The teachers also stated emphatically that "in the circumstances in which we find ourselves, it would be extremely difficult for the leadership to restrain our members from expressing their anger in forms that may affect the sanctity of the school environment".

Eiii Ghanafo u r insulting we the teachers for demanding our rights? NPP u have forgotten your promises to us wen u needed our vote? 2020 we go show Nana. U cant take us for a ride. We voted against NDC for a reason n that is why u r in power.
what has validating a poor teacher's salary got to do with a-4-year term? Maybe someone is not reading the content of the letter as captured in the news. How would the affected trs cater for their families if the must wait for 4yrs. Awww Ghana!!
Nipa. After the thank you note from government to parents who now have free SHS & restoration of Allawa for trained teachers. Folks need to grow up & reason outside the box.
abrogate this teachers union. Greed is killing Ghanaian teachers o.
You don't have jobs you cry*****
My question is were they behaving like this to the ndc or scared of their wrath by the babies with sharp teeth. How can some people behave inhuman like that to a young government, if you were able to tolerate ndc nons*nse for 8 years you can wait for just a year to allow the new government to get settled what kind of people are we blacks, like we want to eat everything immediately especially when somebody is trying to do them good. A government neglected you for 8 years another government is in place just give them a little time but just they paid for the nurses and teacher trainees allowances you want all your problems solved today what nons*nse is a black man selfishness and jealousy. You can't jobs you cry, when you are employed you put pressure what is this? So no breathing space for the new government when they are mandated for 4 years you want all your problems solved in 10 months when somebody used 8 years to destroy everything? Politics is really a crazy stuff
