A chief in Kintampo has implied that excessive sexual activity at the Kintampo waterfall site have angered the river gods, which might have contributed to the recent tragedy.
Speaking on Asempa FM Monday after the tragedy, the Kyeremankohene of Kintampo, Nana Effa Guakro, said the youth in the area have been warned numerous times to desist from such acts since it angers the river gods, but said they simply disregarded the orders.
He said the site was a favourite venue for students to carry out bad acts such as having s*x, and they’ve ignored several warnings to stop.
“If we tell them to stop doing certain bad things at the waterfalls site, they don’t listen and decide to do what they want.” he said.
“I’ve caused to be made several announcements on radio speaking against such bad behaviours, if they treat the river with respect, the river (god) will also serve them well.”
He said for now, the chiefs and elders of the town would consult the gods to find out what exactly led to the accident.
