The Gender Minister, Otiko Afisa Djaba has cautioned teenage girls against engaging in sexual promiscuity until they turn 18 years.
Addressing the media at the press series at the Ministry of Information, the Minister advised young girls to keep their virginity secured till they are of age.
“Girlchild, don’t sleep with him. It is not love. It is lust. You are special, you are precious. Until 18, put a padlock on it and lock it and throw the key away,” she posited.
She added that when boys try to lure them into their snares under the pretence of love, they should turn them down by playing smart.
“Don’t get pregnant. If a boy loves you, he will say ‘because I love you, sleep with me. You should say to him ‘because you love me, don’t sleep with me. If you love me, demonstrate your love by not sleeping with me”, Otiko Djaba cautioned.
Mr Moses Dramani Luri, the Executive Director of Social Initiative for Literacy and Development Programme recently called on Parliament to pass a law with harsher penalty on persons responsible for teenage pregnancies to sufficiently guarantee the protection and future of young girls in the country to enable them realize their dreams.

Look who is talking. We know you even in Europe.
What the difference till you are 18 or till you are married. The woman knows is only at that age that you are allow to marry. Sometimes we should learn not to comment when you don't have anything to say.
What an advise, influenced by the modern society we live in. I would never give that advise to young girls. You wait TILL YOU ARE MARRIED.
Don't you have mother, go and ask her to show you her padlock. ediotttttttttt.
Madam , Please show me your padlock
well said. The best will be when politicians stop lying to the citizenry and steal the monies meant for developing the state so that parents get jobs to take care of their girls decently. This will make them stop seducing the boys/ men from breaking the padlock. God has put the padlock there already but the bad economy caused by bad leadership is causing force break-in.
Madam minister did you do that when you were 18 yr?
well said madam Djaba.
The minister was right, please don't insult her. Blame the constitution, our constitution gives freedom at age 18. At that age a girlchild can marry. Yes put a padlock till you are 18, at 18 you decide whether to mess your life or to respect it. At 18 you choose to marry or get pregnant. The minister is only saying what the constitution of the country says simple.
What is your problem? Are you one of those irresponsible men sleeping with little girls? Be responsible and respect women, including girl-childs.
