The 13-member Professor Kwesi Botchwey Committee probing the National Democratic Congress’ (NDC) 2016 election defeat on Monday (June 19, 2017) presented a 455-page report to the National Executive Committee of the party.
Professor Botchwey handed over the voluminous document titled "Listening To The Voice Of The Grassroots" to the national chairman of the NDC, Mr Kofi Portuphy at the party's headquarters in Accra.
The Deputy General-Secretary of the party, Koku Anyidoho insisted that the report would not be made public and the closest journalists would get to it was at the ceremony.
However, Prof Botchway who led the fact-finding committee on their journey across the country gave an insight into some of the recommendations at the press briefing.
He said he was hopeful that the recommendations when implemented, would win the NDC party the 2020 polls.
Eight recommendations contained in the Kwesi Botchwey report below-
1. That the party puts together a group of credible and eminent members of our party to undertake a peacebuilding and healing of the country.
2. That the party takes steps to restore the integrity of the biometric register and the expanded electoral college.
3. We recommend that steps be taken to restore the capacity and effectiveness of the party's organs especially at the branch level where we believe these organs are the most critical because they are the party's immediate connection to the people, we are afterall a truly mass party.
4. We also have recommendations on ways we can and must improve the collation of election results.
5. We also believe that steps ought to be taken by the party to reconnect itself properly to our social democratic roots and the principal actors in these social democratic roots.
6. We recommend that steps ought to be taken to strengthen research and intelligence in the party. This should involve crowding in a larger body of the party's intellectual base which has not been particularly active in the past, this will help to support the party's research capacity.
7. There are recommendations that the party will scale-up and re-invigorate its work in the area of youth organisation.
8. The organisation of women, we note that significant changes have taken place in the country's demographic profile and that the party ought to take notice of this and all the implications of these changes.

@Nii Oh God my ribs are aching . I've not had such a good laugh in a long time. Indeed how do you compile a 455 page report for people who cannot or will not read it?All these nice English words and phrases boil down to one thing. Greed, callousness, arrogance of power. disregard for the concerns of Ghanaians, massive corruption, incompetence at the highest levels of government,Mahama's infantile campaign antics [imagine a grown man mimicking Usain Bolt on a campaign platform as his opponents were promising heaven on earth],and above all else the inability of the rigging machinery to function. Couldn't all these reasons be printed on one A4 sheet?,so all the half-wits can at least try to read it?
No matter what is contained in the report as to why the corrupt, criminal people in the NDC lost the elections, one thing if is not included would be like behaving as the ostrich! That is, the NDC hatred, dislike, discrimination against Akans, especially, Ashantis! Just look at the results in the various areas very well. The NDC lost heavily in the Akan dominated areas. Such discriminations were in terms of contracts, projects, appointments, award of scholarships to foreign students who are from the north or volta.
Recommendation 6. We recommend that steps ought to be taken to strengthen research and intelligence in the party. This should involve crowding in a larger body of the party's intellectual base which has not been particularly active in the past, this will help to support the party's research capacity. TALKS ABOUT INTELLIGENCE AND ENTIRE NDC PARTY FROM THE VERY TOP TO THE BOTTOM SPEAK THE SAME PROPAGANDA, THE PEOPLE IN MY VILLAGE REPEATING WHAT ANYIDOHO MISCHIEVOUSLY SAYING IN ACCRA, I AM NOT SURPRISE WHY THEIR INTELLECTUAL BASE IS WEAK.
All these noise about researching the cause of NDC election loss is a pure academic exercise. These recommendations will not win the corrupt NDC any future elections. The reason why the NDC lost the 2016 election is CORRUPTION AND GREEDINESS of its leaders, simple. There is no need for this huge academic exercise of producing a 455 page report whose recommendations will never be implemented. The exercise is a waste of money and time. NDC is now a toxic party with its new slogan being create, l00t and share. I can foresee them remaining in opposition for a very very long time.
Nii u cra*zy wai. Hahahahaa
Hey Hmmm Nii!!!you have said it all. It will take them 45 years to read the 455 page report. I bet Koku and his cohorts will not even find where the recommendations are to be able to implement them. If for a 455 paged report, the summary is only 8 irrelevant recommendations then NDC has lost it big time. Adieu forever, NDC!!!
Prof I think you had let go your good integrity and alluded to pressure from the party member to write this report which you know that is not it. Prof I like you but to allow Asiedu Nketia to let write something against your will is Not good for you, NDC and Ghana. If this 8 points given is the summary of the 455 page report them I am afraid we cant win in 2020.
I can gather pieces together in this recommendation. Do they think Ghanaians are that fo*ls as they always take them for to take this recommendation as the reason why they lost? Where is the economy, ethics, security,Unity etc in the economy? Ghanaians voted against the ndc because of corruption, thi*ving, insults, disrespectful due to bad up bringing, tribalism, division, discrimination, power drunk, arrogance etc so if you don't have these and others in your recommendation to rectify then you are lost in wilderness. Ndc can never win 2020 elections to come and destroy what the NPP is building and institutionalize corruption and disrespectful attitudes, you are deceiving yourselves you think it will be easy for you to write off the over 1 million votes to win over the NPP? Keep on deceiving your illiterate footsoldiers you are coming back in 2020 when the good people of Ghana have vowed to do away with the ndc. You were giving 8 years you couldn't establish nothing as legacy like President Kuffuor left Ghanaians with the NHIS,MASLOC,YEA,Free School feeding programme, MMT etc which you even tried to destroy. Ndc to come back on what message? You joking you just deceiving your followers because they are angry so let's set up a committee to calm nerves down. How are you going to make your party attractive for people to join? NPP became attractive because of the good works of Kuffuor's administration so what are Ghanaians going to look up to for ndc to be attractive to them since John mahama's administration was noted for corruption Day time robbery and arrogance and power drunken. Ndc is no where near power in the near future kai! Tickle yourselves and think this government will fail for your propaganda every Ghanaian is praying for the government to succeed so Ghana will move forward, and if ndc is praying for it to fail it will hit back on their faces. Nation wreckers and anti- Ghana and anti- Christ. We are serving a living GOD 'ADONAI' GOD BLESS GHANA,GOD BLESS NPP, GOD damn ndc.
THIS IS A JOKE IN TI'S HIGHEST DEGREE!!!, NDC GHANAIANS WILL CONSIDER COME 2070.....
Are these the recommendations? Please this makes no sense to me as a way of winning elections in 2020. We are definite to loose again
