It was President Akufo-Addo’s decision to terminate the Power Distribution Services deal according to the Managing Editor of the New Crusading Guide newspaper, Kweku Baako Jnr.
According to him, some members of the ruling government were not happy with the President’s decision because they feared termination will come with some consequences; nonetheless, he decided to put the interest of Ghanaians first.
"Within the government, it’s not everybody who was enthused about the option of termination because of the implications for the Ghanaian economy. Some thought Mr President let’s compromise; they felt a different option should have been pursued . . . ," he disclosed while contributing to a panel discussion on Peace FM’s morning show 'Kokrokoo'.
According to him, some of these kingpins, "had an eye on 2020; (they felt) there might be an economic challenge prior to the election. The leader of this administration who is the President said no; if that is the consequences let it be so; he doesn’t believe the good people will refuse or fail to see other positive indicators. So this decision to terminate was driven by the President himself against the wishes of some of his colleagues."

Background
The government of Ghana has terminated its concession deal with Power Distribution Services Limited regarding the distribution of electricity in Ghana.
A letter dated 18th October, 2019 signed by Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta said: “Following consultations with Government, we wish to emphasize that Government remains strongly committed to the Compact and to private sector participation in the Electricity Company of Ghana.”
“Secondly, the facts detailed below clearly justify the discontinuance of the current concession which, it should once again be emphasized, does not in any way diminish the Government of Ghana’s commitment to private sector participation in Ghana’s energy sector. Indeed, Government intends to see this PSP through in a manner that respects due process and fidelity to the relevant transaction documents and underlying Compact,” the letter said.

A certain ***barred word*** would have just kowtowed just for political expediency and for convenience sake. We need strong leadership to say no. Thank you Mr, President. Posterity will judge you even it it costs you votes in 2020.
Whoever says Mr. Kweku Baako is a liar, is so brainwashed with lies, inherently, that he can no longer differentiate between lies and truth. Well, you might say Kweku is sometimes biased in presenting the facts but he always tries to be factual. He 'tries' to be factual just because he is a human being. But he is never a liar.
Lets see...
Kweku baako member of the kitchen cabinet of Akuffo-Addo. baako is a liar and hypocrate of our time.
NMG ndc f00£00l when we talking about Ghana don't come in ok? we don't need birdbrains in our country's issues ,Akufo Addo would never have collected money to bring in Guantanamo prisoners only idi*ots do that. We can't sacrifice Ghana for money to create loot and share! ***barred word*** ndc ! without politics their life is gone. It takes a leader to make bold decisions which ndc lack!
The population of Ghana is approximately 30,000,000. Assuming 10,000,000 Ghanaians each gave the government only GHS100 we will be able to raise this sum of $190M therefore why on earth must the government give in to the threats of America. About 25 years ago the Rwanda president took similar bold decisions and although they faced some challenges, look at where they are today and the respect they now command on the international scene. The mistakes of our past leaders in the areas of for example, gold mines, diamond mines, cocoa pricing, etcetera must not be allowed to happen again going forward.
Akuffo is genuine, he has Ghana at heart
I find it very difficult believe that we are putting our electricity power (which is worth billions of dollars)into foreign hands for just $190 million. Can't we raise that $190M ourselves? We gave our gold into foreign hand in the same manner; very soon we will give our cocoa farms to the foreigners and we will become laborers on the farm.
