Former African Footballer of the Year, El Hadji Diouf, is drawing inspiration from President-elect of Liberia, George Weah, as he sets his sights on pursuing politics in his native Senegal following his retirement.
The former Liverpool and Leeds United midfielder hanged his boots in 2017.
Speaking in an interview with Class Sports, Diouf said he wants to be a politician to contribute to policies that will bring development to his country.
“I am looking after myself and my family. For many years, I used to think about football but I have a new career and it is a political career.
“I have taken the decision to do politics because I have people waiting for me to change things in my country and I am ready to do that,” he said.
