Road contractors have called on government to review the fuel levy upwards to allow more inflow into the Road Fund Account for the execution of more road projects.
The Progressive Road Contractors Association and Road Contractor's Ghana, put the request before President John Mahama, at the Flagstaff House in Accra.
They called for the review to be put before Parliament and a non-partisan approach adopted towards it.
The fuel levy has been six pesewas since 2005, and the contractors are of the view that with the huge demand for good roads, the contribution of the fuel levy to the road fund is woefully inadequate.
