The Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) on Tuesday sealed off the premises of two companies, which together owed it more than GHC676, 031 in unpaid taxes.
The companies are Sealane Shipping and Trading Company, which owes GHC158,129, and Gentrac Investment Limited GHC423,796.
The exercise was to enforce GRA's laws and clamp down on tax defaulters in order to improve revenue collection, recovery and mobilisation.
The GRA on Monday also sealed off the premises of PH Hotels near American House at East Legon for non-payment of taxes amounting to GHȼ314,145.55 and AFWest Security also at East Legon for owing GHȼ187,678 in taxes.
The Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) said it would undertake a comprehensive programme of enforcement actions to recover all arrears of tax revenue to the state.
Mr George Blankson, the Commissioner General of GRA, said the debt management and compliance enforcement unit would collaborate with outfield offices throughout the country to conduct distress action and seal off premises.
He said various methods had been employed to recover arrears without success, including serving of demand notices, telephone calls, personal visits and final demand notices.
