The Rebecca Foundation, headed by the first lady of Ghana Rebecca Akufo-Addo has commissioned a newly built Adetim D/A KG and Primary School in the Upper West Akim District of the Eastern Region after the project was abandoned for twenty- nine (29) years.
The dilapidated facility which had served the community for a long time was reconstructed following various appeals by the Chiefs and People of Adetim since 1992.
The newly constructed building comprises a six-unit classroom block and other important ancillary facilities.
Speaking during the commissioning exercise, Mrs Akufo-Addo said the commissioning of the facility by the Rebecca Foundation reflects the vision to assist the government in its quest to provide quality and accessible education to all and sundry.
She added that “I have taken personal assurances from the District Chief Executive Officer for the Upper West Akim District, Mr. Eugene Sackey and Chief of Adetim Nana Sekyere that the facility would be put to best use so as to encourage attendance to school by the pupils and ensure many more students have access to education.”

Interesting. For 29 years, the people & Chiefs in the area, appealed to govt to fix run down school buildings. I bet they did their fair share in galamsey craze, with the chiefs taking monies from foreign nationals to destroy their lands. Yet none bothered to fix the school building for their kids. They certainly must have gotten their pockets lined-up for them by some politicians, yet they cared for themselves only. Shameful really, shame on them all. Thanks to the first lady and the Rebecca Foundation, and their wonderful works; for caring for children where adult grown-ups dont wish to be bothered..
