The Advocacy Officer of the Coalition of NGO's in Health, Michael Boadi has kicked against any rush to scrap the allowances of nursing trainees.
He says before any such decision is taken, alternative measures must be put in place to attract people to the training institutions.
He said even with the payment of the allowances, the country is still grappling with shortage of nurses.
Mr Boadi was reacting to calls by the Upper East Regional Director of Health Services for the scrapping of the allowances.
