Ambassador James Victor Gbeho, Special Advisor to the Mills government on foreign Affairs is to assume the position of President of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) Commission.
This follows an overwhelming endorsement at the meeting of Heads of State and Government within the sub-region in Abuja, the capital of the most populous country in West Africa, Nigeria.
Ambassador Gbeho takes over from Dr Mohammed Ibn Chambas whose tenure of office ends in March 2010.
