The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has explained that there was no law that prevents the siting of Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) refill stations near residential areas.
According to the EPA, existing laws rather bars the construction of LPG and fuel stations close to schools, hospitals, and churches.
At a press conference in Accra on Tuesday, to respond to last Saturday's gas explosion at Atomic junction in Accra, the EPA said its focus was on safety and that it believes if stations were to abide by safety standards, accidents would be reduced.
More to come….

Very well. We find where you live and set up one by your house.
Absence of law doesn't mean absence of common sense. The Executive Director was too legalistic and encumbered dealing with menace of proliferation of Gas and LPG stations. Allowing such explosive and combustible entity sited in a crowded residential area and dereliction of duties. He either doesn't know his responsibility or buried neck deep in legalistic. Again, Abum Sarkodie, should know that absence of law doesn't mean absence of common sense.
The EPA should use their COMMON SENSE because if there are no laws is it safe to plant these lethal stations amongst residential houses ; why are Ghanaians SOOO STOOOPID and fail to use their BRAINS !!!!!!@!!; the same thing happens when Ghanaians are fulled that there is heaven that if they pray hard they will enter after and so they should neglect the law ; pollute our river throw after digging the god ; still state monies for their families ; pour rubbish in our backyards and sheeeet in the gutters ; our motto is destroy what we can see because there is this beautiful heaven we are going to when we DIE !!!!!because there heaven painted with gold and everything has been prepared by Jesus ; WHAT A LOAD HEADLESS GHANAIAN CHICKENS AND A CONFUSED PEOPLE !!!!!!!
This man & law lacks common sense.
So I can operate LPG Station from my house!!...ok What an ***barred word*** explanation...oh Ghana
REALLY! After 60 plus years of independence. High time 6th March is used to make sure elected officials enact relevant laws. So those elected officials in parliament what have they been doing all these years?
I wonder what the youth is doing. These are some of the things they have to protest against
This guy ought to be shot.Between churches , schools and residential houses which of theses areas present a place where escaping gas can be ignited/Most of our technocrats are brain-dead.Riding around town in V8s.That's it
What is EPA talking about? What is the full name for the abbreviation EPA? I always don't understand why some of these people behave these ways? This is common sense. So what do they learn from all the conferences they spent taxpayers monies attending overseas all the time? Please, you should stop talking loosely. If you were to be in a developed country these words alone will lead to your resignation. Please, try and let people respect your profession and stop those loose talk.
But there is the law of common sense which is in the genes of every human.
