Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia has said the Government would soon begin recruitment of 3,000 Arabic teachers to aid in developing global mindedness and cultural diversity in the citizenry.
He said the Ministry of Inner City and Zongo Development had been mandated to undertake the recruitment exercise.
Vice President Bawumia disclosed this at the Annual Celebration of the Birth of Prophet Mohammed at Fadama, in Accra, on Saturday.
He said the Government had started fulfilling some of the campaign promises including the implementation of teacher and nurses’ trainee allowances and Free Senior High School Policy.
The Vice President said government would launch a three-year programme to construct bridges, interchanges and a total of 1,500 kilometres of roads across the country to enhance agriculture productivity.
He added that rail lines from Accra to Paga and Kumasi and Takoradi to Kumasi would begin next year to boost government’s industrial transformation agenda.
Vice President Bawumia said the “One Million, One Constituency” initiative would also commence next year to ensure uniform development across the country.
He said government needed peace to implement those policies and urged Muslims to live in unity and harmony with one another and tolerate other religious members’ views.
He commended the Chief Imam, Sheikh Nuhu Shaributu, for being a “walking example” of the principles and values of Prophet Mohammed in view of his sincerity and tolerance and urged all Muslims to emulate those attributes.

If Ghanaians have every reason to support the idea of recruiting thousands of Fench Teachers in Ghana and making it an examinable Subject in our usual examination, why can't Arabic? How many Ghanaians are arein the French speaking Countriries as compared to the number of Ghanaians in the Arabic Speak Countries? Don't we have Embassies of Arabic speaking Countries in Ghana, why don't you complain? Don' we have Ghana Ambassadors in the Arabic speaking Countries? Don't we receive supports from the Arabic speaking Countries? And above all, how many Ghanains go to Makkah every year? What Language do they speak? Please if if you don't have concern for your brother and the Government has has, keep quiet, that your hatred towards Muslims shows you are the first enemy of peace, and the number one Terrorist! Please have time to answer this question: The Economy of Ghana as compared to that of Arabic speaking countries, which is better, and which one will adopt, if you are asked to do so? Terrorism could be defined as hatred or action against some without a tangible reason!
For the records, Arabic is not a religion and it is quite sad to see the narrative take an absurd turn like this. The teaching of a language cannot fuel terrorism but rather it's effect is to reorient our youth in embracing the Arabian. The reason is not clear and the Vice President should Com again in thia5. I would be utterly shocked to see this come to pass without the integrity and notice being questioned a d argued at rationally. It is the least priority a government should set given the myriad of problems with our education system. We wait to see this so we can address it in context
What do we need Arabic teachers for. this is the beginning of boko haram . government please be wise.
The beginning of BOKO HARAM.
Kindly ask again? Of what impact is Arabic to the Ghanaian Economy? Probably we should be recruiting Chinese/ Cantonese teachers since they seem to be our major partners for now in the Ghanaian industry. Akufu/Bawumia should be careful what they start in our country because of cheap popularity.
President Akufo Addo should not make any move of recruiting 3000 arabic teachers that will end up churning out terrorists. Ghana has over 80% christian population so what do we need arabic teachers for? does anyone have to speak the arabic language to remain globally competitive? why can't we use that money to recruit STEM teachers and instructors to develop the vocational, technical and polytechnic institutions so that we can have graduates readily available to power our industrial sector? to me ghana is sick. we simply don't know our priorities so we don't have a strategic plan to make our economy globally competitive. try recruiting the so-called 3000 arabic teachers and you will face our wrath in 2020.
