KAA Law, Solicitors for Dr. Kwame Acheampong-Kyei, Board Chairman of BOST, have rubbished publications circulating in the media principally seeking to create the wrong impression that their client engaged himself in some illegality with respect to the acquisition of banking licence for the erstwhile Sovereign Bank.
According to the statement sighted by Peacefmonline.com, Dr. Kwame Acheampong-Kyei resigned from the board of Sovereign Bank earlier this year when it came to his notice that certain improprieties had taken place in the affairs of the Bank without his knowledge, and he has never had anything to do with the Bank again since then.
"We wish to emphatically state for the record and without any equivocation that nowhere in the Bank of Ghana's press release was it stated that Dr Kwame Acheampong-Kyei committed any fraud for the brief period he was associated with Sovereign Bank," the statement read.
The Solicitors said they deem the said publications and circulation as mere fabrications, albeit provocative, aimed at tarnishing the hard earned impeccable reputation of Dr. Kwame Acheampong-Kyei.
"It is therefore unfortunate that attempts are being made to soil his reputation purely out of mischief and bad faith," a portion of the statement read.
KAA Law while setting the records straight, also state that they would not hesitate to take the necessary steps, including recourse to legal action to protect the image of their client against any person or group of persons, who may persist in spewing falsehood against Dr. Kwame Acheampong-Kyei.
Last week Wednesday, the Bank of Ghana (BoG) announced the merging of five banks to form Consolidated Bank Ghana Limited.
The beleaguered banks are: UniBank Ghana Limited, The Royal Bank Limited, Beige Bank Limited, Sovereign Bank Limited, and Construction Bank Limited.

To paraphrase what Kwasi Botchwey's report stated, that the NDC party lack people with research capacity.
pure NPP tactics. same way they tried to intimidate A-plus. after collapsing the bank, they have moved their favorites, to members of the boards of comppanies. what about the tellers ?? what about the cleaners??
As to when he had his PhD degree, I don't know but when I was his employee, he never showed any sign of upgrading himself, academically. I don't have any evidence to prove his alleged deal. However, if I am to give my impression of him for the period that I worked for him, I CAN SAY EMPHATICALLY THAT HE IS NOT AN HONEST MAN!! I know people change over time so, my assessment of him is in regard to the period that I worked for him. THE SOLICITORS HAVE GOT THE SPELLING OF HIS NAME WRONG. IS IT ACHAMPONG AND NOT ACHEAMPONG. He is very much particular about the spelling.
....damage control. No further comment.
THEM. Nobody will use the law to scare anybody, but the TRUTH must be told. What & where are the facts of fraud? The LAW is there to protect all of us so that HARD WON REPUTATION would not easily be destroyed. Long live Ghana.
YOU CANNOT USE THE LAW TO SCARE ANYBODY.......
