The Head Pastor of the International Central Gospel Church (ICGC), Pastor Mensa Otabil on Sunday armed his congregation with what he described as the three-pronged responses to anyone who would ask them about issues concerning himself and the collapsed Capital Bank.
"I felt that as your pastor, I owe you an explanation, to come to church and to make a statement of what my views are, so that when you go out and people come out with information, you will have a response to give to them," he said to a thunderous applause.
Graphic Online’s Donald Ato Dapatem reported that with the congregation eager with rapt attention to jot down and probably record the responses, Pastor Otabil said "these are the three statements I will make with regard to the response I want to give, which I expect you to carry along to explain what is happening.”
"My first statement is that God is good, my second statement is that, God is good and my third statement is that, God is good."
Pastor Otabil who said he was in Zimbabwe preaching at the church of his friend and an international evangelist, Tudor Bismark, during the week said he had heard of many things been said about him, regarding the bank and felt that he had to offer the congregation some information to answer whenever faced with the issue.
After this, he read a lot of Psalms in the Holy Bible and led the congregation into praises and worship intermittently making comments that reinforced the greatness of God.

I really share you sentiments but will advise against it...... God is good is the best of answers!!! Bible even advises that, silence is golden.....Moreover, when you know how to fight your fight God will not fight for you!!! Remember when Jesus Christ himself was accused and asked if He was the messiah... what was his response? So the more he tries explaining, the more he arms these ill-minded people...... Let go and let God...... The battles is the Lord's, I beg ooo not the NPP's version!!
Where is Manasseh Azure? I’m waiting patiently to read from you on this unfortunate development. Please don’t keep me waiting. Make my week. If this had happened in the developed world, your guess is as good as mine, Mensah-Otabil might have preached the “God is good” sermon behind a different kind of pulpit. Let’s boldly condemn wrong and extol virtue. Me thinks Mensah-Otabil should be circumspect in his utterances, especially as some lives are at stake as a result of this reprehensible matter to say the least. Very disappointing.
Mensah-Otabil has built a cult in which his congregation worship him and like Donald trump in the US ; Mensah-Otabil thinks he is net to GOD and above the law ; for him even President admires him and will not act against him ; this a man who is a generational thinker ; whatever that mean only god knows ; this a man who takes what others have already written and gives the impression that he coined or invented sich ideads ; this man Mensah-Otabil is a fraudester par excellence-PERIOD !!!!!!
@Achina, please do not take offense in Ojam. One of the things that is killing Africa is religion or if you like Christianity.Who said we dont believe in God and for that matter Christ our redeemer. But IT IS BEST IF OTABIL WILL KEEP QUIET AND LET GOD SPEAK FOR HIM. what he did on Sunday was a tease to those who have lost their jobs and livelihood. Many great men have been smashed in their faces like Otabil but they said IT IS WELL. I pray you find this well dear ACHINA
Those waiting for the so-called full facts before they will condemn Otabil for the collapse of Capital Bank are simply very weak people who cannot call black, black and white, white because the collapse of Capital Bank already condemns Otabil. It is only the extent of wrongdoing that will be established by any further facts.
@Ojam sorry for yourself bro. Can you please tell us the gravity of the misconduct? Today christianity, tomorrow christianity why? If you don't want to go church stay at home or go and eat Omotuo and alomo bitters with your girlfriends on Sunday. Some of us will go church to worship the living christ. We will happily use our hard earned money to pay our tithes and offering. We will teach our children the ways of Christ and to stand strong irrespective of the persecution.Herod couldn't stop the Cross, not even Hitler and Cesar. Insult Otabil all you want but never make the mistake of thinking christians are st.upid. Only the wise can follow Christ.
When he said his statements are "God is good*3" his church members clapped with standing ovation. Mr Otabil preached sometime back that born again Christians are the easiest people to deceive. "you lie to them and they believe,.... making them ***barred word***. If that is the case, their pastor will tell them "God is good,....." and they will believe it and clap for him, notwithstanding the gravity of his misconduct. Sorry for Christianity!
Matt.7. [1] Judge not, that ye be not judged. [2] For with what judgment ye judge, ye shall be judged: and with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you again. [3] And why beholdest thou the mote that is in thy brother's eye, but considerest not the beam that is in thine own eye? Yoo
@Kofi ; I could'nt agree more with your sentiments and as this thing call AMA on the forum I cannot understand the confused hypocracy in the piece presented ; why did Mensah Otabil allow himself to be used when he knew he was going to be a by stander in taking that role besides was he not aware of the responsibilities involved ;just mind BOGGLING !!!!!!;for me !!!!;it was classic sheer greed selfishness and crimially minded person who will do this and as this word 'respectale people'; there are no respectable people in Ghana today ; most people i Ghana are just kroooks!!!!!!including Pastor mensah-Otabil.
Why would God be Good when you sell and go free
