The President of the Republic, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, has received the 2018 Outstanding Leader’s Award, given to him by the United States Chamber of Commerce and its U.S. Africa Business Centre.
Receiving the award on Monday, 24th September, 2018, President Akufo-Addo noted that “it is good to know that advocating for Ghana to opt for a partnership with the rest of the world on the basis of trade and investment co-operation, not aid, has its rewards.”
In his acceptance remarks, the President stated that the receipt of the award represents a summary of his focus as Ghana’s President, since assuming the reins of office some 21 months ago.
“I have sought not only to strengthen my country’s democratic credentials, but also to help create wealth and provide opportunities for its people,” he added.
Ghana, like most countries in Africa, the President said, is blessed with an abundance of human and natural resources, but has, however, over the years, been heavily reliant on the production and export of these natural resources, in their raw form.
“We have also not taken deliberate steps to create an educated workforce to spur on the development of our country. Unsurprisingly, we have not been able to bring sufficient progress and prosperity to the mass of Ghanaians. This sad state of affairs has deepened our reliance on aid, charity and handouts, thereby, making us vulnerable to the politics of foreign powers,” he said.
President Akufo-Addo told the gathering that his government has decided to buck this trend, as it is the only way his government can bring wealth to the Ghanaian people, and halt the dynamic of young men and women leaving the country in search of non-existent greener pastures abroad.
“We want, thus, to emulate the paths to prosperity taken by countries that have become today’s success stories, especially those of Asia,” the President added.

ofori Why do i sense "skin pain" in your comment. I believe you are a staunch NDC supporter who'll never see anything positive in this govt.
Award my foot, award for appointing concubines and family to positions in government. Award for lying and deceiving ghaianas. Award for encouraging corruption, and agreeing to deport ghanaians to ghana with no conditions. Award for borrowing
I've thought those who complained that things are hard under this NPP govt were being biased because they just are anti NPP. On second thought i think most of them might be right. Why do i say that? If you had your children in secondary school, had a proper business that now benefits from reduced electricity tariff and lower interest rate, if you were a trainee nurse or teacher, if you had registered for NABCO and are looking forward to getting a job, just to mention a few, you'd be happy about the performance of the govt. I believe those complaining abt hardships are those who used to get free money when the NDC were in power (getting free money, though sweet, is not sustainable and hurts the economy in the long term). This award, improved credit rating and big companies (VW, Nissan, etc) wanting to do business in Ghana is an indication of the good economy / good things that are happening in the country. Let's stop complaining and use our energies and to take advantage of the positives that foreigners have seen and start some business in our own small ways so that not only foreigners will benefit from the improved economy.
Gonazoo or what your name is, he deserves more than that, the hardship was created by your ndc, where Ghanaians in paradise during your create loot and share regime? mo besu ara awu! this is the beginning you ain't sen nothing yet! he has paid your debts and you want them to use their teeth to build the nation for you are lazy f00**00l to enjoy? mo besu ara awu and that won't affect nothing, your ndc will rot in opposition! the good people thank God ndc is no more they would have sold their kids like ndc time child trafficking was rampant! for the awards he will collect them saaaaaaa! mo besu ara awu! heheheheheee! Nana di wo hene,di wo hene if they don't understand they can go burn the sea! who cares? NPP has 50 years to put things in order in our country for the next generation to enjoy! they ain't going anywhere today or tomorrow and the world appreciate what the NPP is doing for next generation not next elections like some f000*00ls are thinking. If Ghana is hard just relocate nobody is forcing you to live there.
GHANAIANS WE ARE JOKERS FOR ALLOWING SO CALL PROPHET OF GOD TO SPEAK ON NATIONAL RADIO THAT EVIL SPIRIT IS WORRYING PRES. NANA ADDO PERFORMANCE. HOW CAN INVESTERS COME JUST FOR THEIR INVESTMENT B E CONSUME BY THE EVIL SPIRIT. THE EVIL SPIRIT DID NOT STOP THE LEADERSHIP AWARD. WE ARE SUFFERING
He doesnt deserve it. Not in the face of this hardship. the incompetent leadership has brought business backwards. Hmmm
Joe, numbers are nothing but getting the work done is the most important thing. If you want to get things done on time, you need to increase the work force and that's what the president has done. In any case Joe. getting 86 ministers with double salaries make them 172 ministers as compared to 110 ministers most of them being mps and getting only mps pay I think is reasonable than the 86 in disguise getting double pay. Ndc are evils and nothing will please them on this earth so please, just leave them on their frustration.
