The Electoral Commission (EC) has announced that it will hold consultations with stakeholders as a means of enhancing transparency in its work.
Those penciled for the consultations include members of the clergy, Imams, traditional rulers, civil society organizations (CSOs) and former presidents, among others.
The novelty in the history of the commission is titled: “High Level Stakeholder Consultations by the Electoral Commission.”
Jean Mensa, Chairperson of the EC, said in a press release that “it seeks to hear firsthand what the concerns and issues of key stakeholders are regarding the commission and its operations. Additionally, the engagements will provide the Electoral Commission the opportunity to inform stakeholders about its current activities and outlook for the future.”
“The programme is intended to demystify EC operations, among others, and bring the EC closer to the citizenry,” it added.
The leadership of the EC, led by Jean Mensa, has already met a number of media houses, including DAILY GUIDE, Graphic Communications Group and Ghana Journalists Association (GJA).
“Ultimately, it’s expected that at the end of these consultations, the commission would have not only opened its doors and operations, but would also have gained tremendously from the insights and experiences of stakeholders,” according to the release.

That is a good idea, Jean. Go ahead to do that and not allow NDC 's mischief to derail your resolute to do the right thing. NDC has no message in terms of good Governance and policy-based programs for economic development for Ghana. It has become clearly very obvious to the discerning Ghanaians that NDC as a political party and its entire hierarchy lack the competence and the know-how to make any meaningful progress in the standard of living of the good people of Ghana.
The stakeholder are political parties not religious bodies. Please humble yourself, accept your mistake and start over. Chief imam and others no nothing about elections.
Good move by all standards. The hypocrisy always shown by the political parties especially, the NDC is annoying. Madam please prove to world that you have no ill against any party and that the elections will surely be won at the polling stations as usual. The NDC is afraid hence forth, they wage insults and naming calling at the innocent E. Chairperson and her collugues.
EC DOESN'T NEED ANY STAKEHOLDERS AGAIN BESIDES THE IPAC. WHAT MAKES JEAN MENSA THINK THAT IMAMS ARE BETTER STAKEHOLDERS IN ELECTION ADMINISTRATION THAN IPAC. SHE SHOULD GET A GOOD RAPPORT WITH THE IPAC AND STOP THE JOKES
EC MUST REACH OUT TO ALL. WE CANNOT SIT UNCONCERNED FOR SOME SELFISH AND CORRUPT POLITICIANS ALONE TO DECIDE THE POLITICAL TERRAIN OF THE NATION. THE POLITICIANS MAY SHOUT LOUDER AND LOUDER BUT ANY OF THEM HAS JUST ONE VOTE LIKE ANY CITIZEN. SINCE MANY DECENT AND RIGHT THINKING PEOPLE ARE QUIET OR NOT CONSULTED THE NOISYYY POLITICIANS THINK THEY MATTER MORE THAN ANY ONE ELSE IN POLITICAL DISCUSSIONS. THE ATTITUDE HAS ENHANCE CORRUPTION BECAUSE SOME CRIMINALS HIDE BEHIND POLITICS TO STEAL FROM THE NATION. THANK YOU EC FOR THINKING BEYOND THE BOX TO GET THE BEST FOR GHANA. POP
