Managing Editor of the Insight newspaper, Kwesi Pratt has charged the National Commission Authority (NCA), Bank of Ghana (BoG) and the Police to take action against money ritualists in the country.
Mr. Pratt cautioned these entities against their lackadaisical attitude in addressing the proliferation of Television stations and persons publicizing their ability to double people's money for them.
He said this in connection with the murder of a 10-year old pupil, Ishmael Mensah, of the Maranatha School at Kasoa in the Central Region.
Two teenagers named, Felix Nyarko, 15, and Nicholas Kini, 17, allegedly murdered the 10-year-old boy at Lamptey Mills in Kasoa.
Speaking on Peace FM's morning show "Kokrokoo", the seasoned Journalist asked the NCA, BoG and Police why they haven't clamped down on those TV stations and personalities swindling people of their monies and also causing others to engage in money rituals.
"Those who give TV licence, what do they actually check before they issue the TV license?" he questioned.
"I watched a certain station that all they show from morning to morning is money-doubling. So, when they were going for the licence, what did they tell the National Communication Authority? Did they tell them they were acquiring the licence to show money-doubling from morning till the next morning? And if that is what they told the National Communication Authority and they permitted it, then it's a big problem but if that's not what they told them, then where is the monitoring?"
He called on the State and media authorities to crack the whip on any media station as well as persons who profess on TV to double money.
"What is the Bank of Ghana sitting there for? Don't they see the money-doubling? Doesn't the Bank of Ghana have a responsibility? Hasn't the Bank of Ghana heard about the money-doubling? What are they doing about it? The Ghana Police Service, haven't they also heard about the money-doubling?", Mr. Pratt slammed NCA, BoG and Police.
"We have laws that prohibit money-doubling," he emphasized.

The Kuluulu has begun. The ages of the boys are gradually declining from 18 & 19 years to 15&17 years making them minors incapable of commiting murder. Oh Ghana, when?
Uncle Pratt, today you are calling on authorities to clamp down on media houses based on the content. What were you doing in all the three years you were a Member of the National Media Commission? You just wasted Ghanaian Tax money for nothing and you should be charged for causing financial lost to the state. Also, when people complain of IRRESPONSIBLE Media, you say it is better than state regulated media, where do we strike the balance? We should all however be aware that the nation will not be capable of containing the COLLATERAL DAMAGE of IRRESPONSIBLE MEDIA. For irresponsible media is now the hungry ravenous lion waiting to voraciously tear the nation apart. It is evident that, the centre cannot hold any longer. Media practice has now become a gold mine for practitioners. Not for the sake of development, but personal aggrandizement at the expense of the nation. They scarcely expose corrupt public officials but rather blackmail public the for personal gain. The even gang against good state policies. Is pitiful.
Peace fm you are the people who started this on your radio station, when you people were in Mal 7 a mallam use to come to your station, I went to him and he scam me. The money was not big like 300gh but I saw the guy was a scam so even the things he gave me to do. I did not do it. I threw them right there in his house and left. So you people are part of the problem.
but who told uncle kwesi that the authorities watch these TV stations. strange that he that watches a certain TV station and saw that they double money from money to evening continues to enjoy it rather than reporting them. if they are close my uncle will demonstrate paaaaaaaaaa
Surprised Mr Pratt now slams the NCA. When the NCA woke up from their slumber to crack the whip on media houses that allegedly had infringed on some laws, they were called names. Again Mr Pratt was loudest when there was a proposed broadcast law. Now the NCA should become content managers for private broadcasters? Lets be a little consistent and sincere in our commentaries. The double standards are sickening

In as much as TV were establish not to double money so it is also not insult people as you are always being doing Kwesi extend your campaigns to block playing lotto because it also double money . Speak as a good citizen not always rants
