Editor-in-Chief of the Insight newspaper, Kwesi Pratt has condemned the use of the Military for crowd control in the country.
Mr. Pratt expressed disappointment over the actions of some soldiers at Ejura and Wa in the Ashanti and Upper West Regions respectively.
At Ejura, some soldiers shot dead two protesters and injured four other people when the residents embarked on a street protest to seek justice for an activist in the community, Ibrahim Mohammed alias 'Kaaka', who was allegedly killed by a mob for his activism.
Following the Ejura incident, a video surfaced showing some Military officers also beating some residents in Wa.
Discussing both incidents on Peace FM's ''Kokrokoo'', the seasoned journalist rebuked the Military for resorting to the use of aggressive force in dealing with civilians.
''If someone is holding clubs and stones and you want to respond, should it be the use of AK47? Complete disproportionate force!'', he said in reference to the Ejura shooting incident.
Touching on the Wa incident, Mr. Pratt exclaimed; ''What's going on? One person has stolen one mobile phone and this is the response? What if some people at Wa had shot a soldier? Then the entire Wa would have been in flames.''

Pratt is as usual prattling on unwisely. With a mob carrying Stones n Clubs the soldiers or police are at serious risk of injury and must seriously n quickly defend themselves, yes with deterrent warning shots n if necessary by shooting people. Tear Gas n such will not be adequate at all. You must educate the mob to only conduct peaceful demonstrations, with no arms!

Well, I don’t know what somebody is trying to teach. We have people running away from the police and are killed in the US and else where. Recent is the George Floyd’’s issue among others. There are bad Cops cum Otger military men in the US and other countries as well. Sometimes we should calm down and look at the root causes of all these issues, draft good policies and educate both the police and the citizenry. Anytime some of these issue raise their heads, there has always been a cause. I don’t think any police/ soldier chaps in Ghana just walk out there in the streets with the sole intention to kill. Always two sides of a story.
I just don't understand why those undisciplined soldiers can not been punished for abusing civilians. I'm sick and tired of hearing soldiers are only trained to kill (bull-***barred word***!). I was in the US Army for 20 years and have never heard such rubbish in my life. Don't they go to peace keeping missions? Don't they go to humanitarian assignments? US Army National Guards were deployed in some cities during black lives matter demonstration but non of the demonstrators were killed. It's about time Ghanaians stop pampering those evil trigger happy Ghanaian soldiers and start punishing the wrong doers. Soldiers are human beings like everyone. Military training doesn't change us from human beings into animals. This 3rd world military ***barred word*** (abusing civilians) must stop NOW!
Uncle Pratt, Why don't you also educate demonstrators to desist from nonpeaceful or antagonistic demonstrations. You feel ill-treated and you want to tell you story, why approach telling your story in a violent way?Have we forgotten of the the adage "He who demands equity must come with clean hands"? Demonstrators too should be told in their face that their approach is completely wrong. Ghanaian demonstrators should change their modus oprandi, period. If you think clubs, stones, machetes and the like are harmless, where is Captain Mahama of blessed memory. No one knows where the trial have reached and whether justice will be served or not. Even if justice is served, will it bring back the lost life? With these in mind, uncle Pratt, if you were any security operative, I doubt you wouldn't defend yourself, even if it means losing the life of a demonstrator. Lets Wise Up, fellow demonstrators and spare innocent people any inconviniences as well as stop the wanton destruction of public and private properties during our demonstrations. Demonstrate with empty hands and only paper placards and not wooden or metallic.
just look at ur teeth
