The University Teachers Association of Ghana (UTAG) has been on strike, registering their displeasure over their conditions of service.
Even though the National Labour Commission (NLC) has secured an injunction to compel them to resume work but they've refused to comply; accusing government of 'bad faith'.
Education Minister, Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum speaking in an interview on Kumasi-based Hello FM, urged UTAG to call off the strike.
"I attend most of their meetings and I will plead with them to call off the strike...if I had my own way they would have done that already but soon everything will be ok" he indicated.

Nan.sins. Everyday you are borrowing. You know how stressing, paining and financial stranding completing a Ph.D. is. Some lecturers teach over 200 students per semester. I applied for an Adjunct Lecturer job. They expect me to prepare lecture notes, set exam questions (mid sem and final), mark, grade, write academic reports all for can change. UTAG if you don't know and you stop strike, all the now Ph.D. students hoping to end in academia will never forgive you. MPs can get loans to buy V8s. Infact if I had my way one of the demand will be ALL Ph.D.s and Professors in academia will also get goverent guaranteed loans to buy V8s. Imagine a whole lecturer your student whose father is an MPs drives Landcruiser and you take UBER. Clear #error this UTAG strike is a cause to correct a generational error. Strike UTAG, sorry to the Level 400s and they should blame their MPs first. Aluta Continua,..... this strike must NEVER until ALL demands are met.
