President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has asserted that the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) will win the 2024 elections in what it has christened as ‘Breaking the 8’ agenda.
He said the victory will shock naysayers who doubt the ability of the party to achieve such a feat in the pending election.
Speaking at the launch and rollout of NPP membership cards at Prempeh Assembly Hall in Kumasi yesterday October 18, President Akufo-Addo stated that the governing party has over the years assumed governance and managed to salvage the country from bad management which has often led it into crisis.
He touted that the NPP remains the only party that prudently manages the economy of the country stressing that it is capable of navigating through the global crisis currently confronting the world and placing the economy on a path of progress.
“It is only the NPP that is able to lift the country out of crisis whenever it is confronted with one. When Kufuor became president, the country was in HIPC status. Through his good policies, we emerged out of it and our finances were better.
“When we came to power in 2017, we were under an IMF programme but because of good policies, we exited it and placed the country on the path of progress. Everything was going on well until Covid struck. Naysayers thought we couldn’t manage it but with courage, we did manage it well.
“It is only the NPP that can solve the latest problem which is the global economic crisis which has messed up our finances,” President Akufo-Addo said.
He urged all and sundry present to join the NPP to add up their numbers and make it a formidable force to reckon with going into the 2024 elections.
He said the party was poised to take the country out of the economic doldrums and rallied the citizenry to remain behind the government and the party together with its national executives as it soldiers on to achieve victory in 2024.
“I am saying to you today, join the New Patriotic Party. If you are not part, come and join to make us more. But the problems we have in Ghana today, we will solve these problems and put our economy back on strong wings [sic]. There is no party which can solve it besides the NPP. We will do it. We will do it for it to shock them
“I plead with you to stand behind the party and it’s national executives. Stand firmly behind the Akufo-Addo-led government. We are going to go on to victory in 2024. They said we can’t do it. It will shock them,” a charged President Akufo-Addo said amid loud cheers from NPP supporters present at the event.
The governing NPP is looking at securing a third consecutive term in office under the Fourth Republic in what it terms as ‘break the 8’.
Meanwhile, the NDC has vowed to wrestle power from the NPP stressing that they have been bad managers of the economy.

Nana Addo, right now NPP is not smelling like a bed of roses. You in particular are getting on my nerves Sir. You've done a lot of good things but with this economy, you're losing it. If the cedi gets worse, you should expect worse from the people. Sit up Sir. We want you to succeed because that will be good for Ghana. So SIT UP SIR. Address the nation directly now to soothe the disquiet. We are not in normal times.
What kind of person is this man at all. Is this the Akuffo Addo we knew from 2008 to 2016? You tell the people of a constituency who gave you 80,000 votes in the last elections that they can vote for the NDC and that is their problem, not yours? What you failed to realize is that others now feel you would have given same response if they also complain about their roads. How then do you expect to win in 2024 with such unguided utterances? When John Mahama made a mockery of you saying you were begging to become president, what did you say or you have forgotten ? The NDC will not need any serious campaign in 2024. They will replay videos of what you used to say in opposition and what you say now for the people to see the kind of person you are. Fact is Akuffo Addo is damaging the NPP beyond repair. Didn't you see how president kufour was going about issues. All the sacrifices by kufour and his appointees that made the NPP attractive is being dismantled. Unfortunately at 78, you are not proving that old age is wisdom. You think Ghanaians don't know what they are about. The NPP will have to go for overhauling after the exit of this man from the scene. He may end his tenure as the worse president in Ghana's history. Anyone who easily forgets those who helped him in his time of need, hnmmm. Kufour, come for your stone, am just recalling his admonishment to NPP delegates to choose someone who can handle people and hold the party together. Today he has been vindicated. Unfortunately the house he built with a lot of sacrifices is being pulled down gradually. For any NPP person to go and throw jabs in Ashanti region , the party's stronghold is amazing. The NDC is definitely having a field day.
Hahahaaaa, is this man abreast with current happenings in Ghana. Your own party supporters are disappointed big time and you are saying what? You are making things very difficult for who ever is going to take over as the flag bearer of the NPP in 2024 with some of your public utterances. I doubt whether you learnt anything from former president kufour as a cabinet minister. An elderly person like you @ 78 must know what to say and what not to say, that's the main difference between an old person and a young person. You are equally making it virtually impossible for any politician from your Akyem ethnic group to want to rise to the presidency. Maybe you want to set a record as the only person from that ethnic group to be president. If you have people following you as a leader, they way and manner you handle your self will either make or unmake your followers. Unfortunately you seem to have been swallowed by the powers vested in you. This is not a good time to belong to the NPP, Akuffo Addo had dashed the hopes of many. You just can't tell how he thinks, when everybody sees something as black, he's the only one who see it as white, amazing. Hope the remaining 2 years come fast for him to go. That's our only prayer now. He's a complete disaster. You never know the true character of a person until he/ she gets power, money and a key position. This is definitely not the Akuffo Addo we voted for.
victory in 2024 ??? u didnt win 2020. how many do u intend to murder this time round ??
Rubbishhhh damage control. Opanyin who speaks by heart always have to find another way to try and salvage the situation. Stuopidity!
Certainly not your fault Presido. Rigging is allowed and the opps is also not pulling its weight. We pray that God gives us someone who will take us out of this plague you have put us in.
The NDC has no better record that suggests that the NDC's regime was not corrupt and hence it was better than the NPP regime. But Ghanaians know very well that their president, in the person of Akufo-Addo, is not corrupt and does not lie. NDC should stop lying through its teeth and remember that a string of bad intentions frequently backfires and becomes counterproductive. The Akufo-Addo's government is not perturbed by the ill-informed propaganda of the NDC inscenuation and keeps on delivering on its mandate for the welfare of Ghana. That is what is going to win the NPP the 2024 elections.
No serious youth takes him serious again !Talk is cheap so he can claim that he created all black ***barred word*** in Ghana and a professor in ***barred word*** talks The most important thing in life is character the old man lacks Waste of 6 years in Ghanas history painted with corruption , stealing , family and friends ***barred word***,worse economic mismanagement,***barred word*** talks and countless evil deeds which wii schock even Adam
@ohemaa-ba your long missive isn’t going to make any difference . Just keep your fingers crossed and wait for the victory the . Jokers
I would want to know where the elements of the NDC and their cohorts are living because their comments about the performance of the president with respect to his campaign promises seem to suggest that they live in a ***barred word***'s paradise. Then, the mere want of the voters to believe and propagate that the president has failed to deliver on the promises does not make it true for the politically discerning people of Gnana, except that the NDC underrates their intelligence. Look at the massive development projects going on across the country despite the current challenges. Yet, the NDC wants us to believe otherwise. I do not want to believe that imposing one's wishful-thinking wins an election.
