The Executive Director of the Media Foundation for West Africa (MFWA), Sulemana Braimah says the method used by ace investigative Journalist, Anas Aremeyaw Anas for his exposés is clearly entrapment.
He described that as “worrying” in an interview with NEAT FM’s morning show, Ghana Montie when discussing the latest exposé of the awarding winning investigative Journalist.
“No one knows what went on behind, we only see the final work. That is worrying,” he said.
Anas Aremeyaw Anas's latest exposé dubbed ‘Galamsey Economy’ has compelled President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to sack the Minister of State in Charge of Finance, Charles Adu Boahen from office.
Charles Adu Boahen on video alleged that Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia needs just USD200,000 as an 'appearance fee' and some positions by an investor for his siblings to get his backing and influence in establishing a business in Ghana.

Wow...we have so many criminals in Ghana. If you are not a ***barred word*** or corrupt, would you be worried even if someone uses the sweetest trick to tempt you? ***barred word*** will always find excuse why they shouldn't be exposed. Jesus was tempted and since he wasn't corrupt the devil failed. Let our public officials behave in similar way. This corruption is what is causing so much hardship for you guys currently living in Ghana. Let change our mindset and help build a better Ghana. It starts by changing our mindset. Everyone must be held accountable.
If you are not a ***barred word***, why would.you be remotely worried about being entrapped. The problem is that most people steal in this country amd shout at Politicians as being the only culprits,be it at work, home, school, church and many other instances. Those are the real people worried about being entrapped. If you are not a ***barred word*** why would you be worried if a stranger offers you a bribe? Just decline it and walk your way.
If the Officials had followed the laid down procedures and laws, there will not be any entrapment regarding Anas videos. It would have been a possitive. Where the officials are following the procedures in this case the (Road Map).
Well said. Why won't Anas show us the raw video from start to finish but decides to run commentary? We want to see how the whole conversation started. This kind of so called investigative journalism has outlived its usefulness. You set up a trap for someone to fall in only to turn round to say that person is corrupt. He's only destroying future potentials of Ghana. Can you imagine where Kwesi Nyantakyi would have been today but for the Anas number 12 episode? Now can anyone tell when another Ghanaian will gained enough experience to get to where Nyantakyi rose to before Anas brought him down. Was is not this same Anas who told Ghanaians he has something on MP's to show to the people. What has stopped him from showing that video? What is wrong if you visit someone's office and satisfied with the way he handled you, you decide on your own to give that person some money only to tell the whole world that this person is corrupt. Did these people you have been filming forced you to give them money. In as much as no right thinking person will shield corrupt officials, this particular style of Anas is sheer wickedness aimed at damaging others. Of late it can be seen that the enthusiasm to hear Anas have dwindled because people are seeing potholes in his style of investigations.
Why did he not pretend to be a Ghanaian business man in Ghana and attempt to bribe a public officer? Why is there a law that mandates prosecution of both a giver and taker of bribe? For all that's worth with this expose, I believe investigation and reporting of crime committed should be celebrated and not staging a crime scene and reporting as such. I could readily defend myself in a similar case by saying that I was acting in the same way that Anas was acting. Otherwise, he's a bribe giver and we're both guilty of the same crime.
For the first time, I agree with the sense spoken by MFWA.
Thank you Mr Braimah. This isn't investigation - it is pure entrapment. Anas has outlived his usefulness.
All well-meaning journalists, MFWA, NMC, should call Anas to order for desecrating the profession and stop complaining
