Eight local contractors engaged by the government in 2022 for the construction of four major by-passes on the Accra-Kumasi Highway are expected to mobilize to site by 15th June 2023.
The by-passes; the 11.6Km Osino by-pass, the 6.1 Km Anyinam bypass, the 10.6Km Enyiresi by-pass and the 13.5Km; are part of the ongoing efforts by the government to dualize the Accra-Kumasi highway to reduce vehicular traffic and accidents as well as enhance the free movement of goods and people.
This was disclosed during a pre-commencement meeting held on June 1st, 2023, between the Minister of Roads and Highways, Hon. Kwasi Amoako-Attah and the contractors.
The contractors are Justmoh Construction Limited (Osino South Bound Carriageway-Lot 1), First Sky Limited (Osino North Bound Carriageway-Lot 2), Hardwick Limited (Anyinam South Bound Carriageway-Lot 3) and Nag Fairmount Co. Limited (Anyinam North Bound Carriageway-Lot 4).
The rest are Memphis Metropolitan Limited (Enyeresi South Bound Carriageway-Lot 5), Resources Access Limited (Enyeresi North Bound Carriageway -Lot 6), Joshob Construction Co. Limited (Konongo South Bound Carriageway-Lot 7) and Kofi Job Company Limited (Konogo North Bound Carriageway-Lot 8).
The Minister noted that the construction of the by-passes is a major priority of government and thanked the selected contractors for their “continuous partnership with government for the development of our nation’s infrastructure.”

Roadshave been and are being built all over the world by government/private sector partnership. Simply put, a private entity builds the road with its own funds and recuperates its investments through tolling the road. It works. Why haven't we tried this? I'm suggesting something different from the Chinese approach under which the nation sometimes has to put its resources as collateral. Any comments? Let's brainstorm.
I remember loans were taken for these projects early last year , surprised more than a year down the line we are now being told contractors are now gona start mobilizing to site … where has the monies been all these while ???
Ghana is not sick there’s time for everything. What were you expecting when some of you were saying let’s “the blood flow “. Do you suppose blood flowing brings progress? You’re blaming politicians and forgetting about your fathers and uncles who were manning government enterprises that collapsed by stealing the monies to send some of you abroad. You can’t have your cake and eat it.
Hon Minister of Roads, please from Tema to Accra through the motorway is horrible. From GTP roundabout to Kpone through Tema Oil Refinery is sad. Comm.12 to Comm.9 round about is a disgrace. From coke Junction to the end is another horrible site. This is your own territory and you have neglected us. I hear you want someone else to win at Tema Central then prepare for a shocker. Thank you.
Peters, my brother, ghana is really sick. Kofi Wayo said it some years back that the road should be four lane one due to the economic benefits and lives to be saved. We're really sick due to politics of patronage.
A good move. however we want to see work happening on the road itself. Since the inception of the fourth republic if every government was doing 25-30 kilometer's every 4 years the dualization of the Accra to Kumasi road would have been nearing completion by now. 66 years after independence we are still struggling to link our two major cities with a dual carriage road. Ghana is seriously sick.
