The Apostolic Nuncio to Ghana, His Excellency, Most Rev. Henryk Mieczyslaw Jagodzinski has on Wednesday, November 25, 2020, paid a courtesy call on the Moderator of the General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana, the Right Reverend Professor Joseph Obiri Yeboah Mante at the General Assembly Office of the Church at Osu in Accra.

The purpose of the courtesy call was to strengthen the already existing ecumenical relationship between the Catholic Church and the Presbyterian Church of Ghana in order to foster brotherhood and solidarity.

In his brief speech, the Apostolic Nuncio said the two churches had many things in common and therefore called for collaboration between the two churches on vital issues of common concern and other problems that affect people and nations such as work for Christian Unity, interreligious dialogue, ecology and peace building.

In his response, the Moderator Rt. Rev Prof. Mante thanked the Apostolic Nuncio for the visit.

He gave a brief historical background of the PCG noting that the Church would be 192 years in December this year making it the oldest, continuously existing church in the country.

The Moderator mentioned that the Church has launched a number of programmes such as Environmental Cleanliness, Church Growth and Peace Campaign Project towards election 2020 in Ghana. He also said the PCG had achieved a lot in the areas of education, health and agriculture.

He assured the Apostolic Nuncio to Ghana that the PCG had been working closely with his predecessor and would continue to do same with him.

The Apostolic Nuncio presented the Moderator with a copy of the Encyclical Letter Fratelli Tutti of His Holiness Pope Francis on Fraternity and Social Friendship.

The Rt. Rev Prof. Mante also presented to the Apostolic Nuncio the English Hymnary of the PCG, a Service Book and an official cloth of the Church.

The Apostolic Nunciature to Ghana is an ecclesiastical office of the Catholic Church in Ghana. It is a diplomatic post of the Holy See, whose representative is called the Apostolic Nuncio with the rank of an ambassador

Present to receive the Nuncio were the Clerk of the General Assembly of the PCG, Rev Dr Godwin Nii Noi Odonkor, the Chairpersons of the Ga and Ga West Presbyteries, Rev Dr Abraham Nana Opare Kwakye and Rev Daniel A. Nyarko respectively and some Senior Staff at the General Assembly.
