The Western Regional Ministry of Food and Agriculture has organized a one-day workshop on commercial production of oyster mushroom for over 100 farmers, pensioners and housewives at Sekondi.
Mr John Gyimah, the Regional Agriculture Extension Officer, said mushroom production was a lucrative income generating venture which would benefit pensioners and housewives besides farmers.
He said mushroom has many medicinal properties including lowering cholesterol. It also possesses antiviral properties.
Mr Gyimah said workshop formed part of periodic workshops organized by the MOFA to educate farmers and the public on acceptable agricultural practices.
