The family of the late Prof Marian Ewurama Addy on Wednesday announced her funeral arrangements with a vigil on February 28 by the University of Ghana at the forecourt of the Volta Hall.
A statement in Accra signed by Ruby Quantson, the family spokesperson, said a pre-burial and filing past ceremony would be held at 0700 hours on March 1 followed by burial and thanksgiving service at 0900 hours at the Christ Anglican Church, University of Ghana as well as the final funeral rites.
The late Prof Addy would be buried in her hometown, Saltpond in the Central Region.
The statement said the dress code for the funeral would be white and that there would be no wreaths laying.
Prof Addy died at the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital on January 14, 2014, after a short illness. She was 72.
Prof Addy, a Biochemist and the first female full professor in the sciences at the University of Ghana was the first female Head of the Department of Biochemistry and the first Head of the Chemical Pathology Unit of the Noguchi Memorial Institute for Medical Research.
She was also the first Hostess of the Flagship Programme, the National Mathematics and Science Quiz and chaired various Boards and Committees, including the government�s Committee on Salaries and Emoluments.
Until her death, Prof Addy was the President of the Anglican University College of Technology.
